HG Construction Ltd commenced work on the Runwell Forensic & Low Secure Unit for the South Essex Partnership Trust on 8/10/07. Having taken possession of the site works soon began in earnest with the commencement of infrastructure drainage and foundation activities, with excellent progress being made despite the adverse weather conditions encountered at that time of year. The superstructure elements of the ward units began to rise into the skyline during the early part of the New Year. With the majority of the buildings now beginning to take shape the site team are moving towards the installation of roofs to the first batch of ward units and the commencement thereafter of the Mechanical & Electrical Installations. It is anticipated that all buildings will be under cover by the end of the Summer 2008, which will then allow the extensive internal finishes and fit-out trades to make good progress inside. The contract is due for completion in August of 2009.

Works continue to programme on the construction of a block of 512 units of student accommodation in North London for the Opal Property Group. Target for completion is Summer this year. The external facade with blue tinted 'Planar rainscreen glazing' to the upper storeys is nearing completion. Test and commissioning of mechanical and electrical installations have commenced. Internal fit out works are continuing at pace with 150 plus operatives on site daily. Carpet and furniture installations commenced at Easter. The show flat was opened on 1st February 2008.

Phase 3, the final phase, of the redevelopment of Wing Yip's Edgware Road, Cricklewood Cash and Carry store was successfully completed and handed over last November. Wing Yip have continued to trade throughout the entire refurbishment works. Wing Yip have reported that sales have more than doubled since the start of the refurbishment works. The office block of the redevelopment, with ornate Chinese tiled roofs, is nearing completion. The remaining sections of scaffolding are finally being removed after over a year of carefully sequenced construction operations to reveal the intricate roof detailing. Wing Yip are presently finalising fit-out requirements for the building.

The demolision of a house to re-build two semi-detached 3 storey houses on a narrow residential street in the town centre of Richmond. Completion is expected around end of May 2008.

The works at this world-renowned hospital to construct two new floors on the existing 5-storey building at York House, to house laboratories and offices are currently on programme. The structural steelwork to the level 5 extension has now been completed together with the concrete floor. Roofing works are proceeding together with the external cladding. Internal refurbishment is well underway and the mechanical and electrical services have now started. The difficult interface with the existing occupiers is being managed well by HG with the minimum of disruption to the users. We are aiming to be complete by the end of August 2008 and expect this to be achieved.
